In our twenties, we have a superhuman ability to bounce back from boozy nights, breakups and bad jobs. And no matter how much we punish it, our skin seems to bounce back too.

But hold up, handsome, these glory days won’t last forever – and if you don’t start looking after your skin now, you’ll be sporting a face full of wrinkles well ahead of time. Think of your skincare routine as superannuation for your face: a little investment now will pay dividends down the track.

Let’s keep things simple lads, with three skincare tips for men in their twenties.

Cleanse

Even the most handsome of men can struggle with acne in their teens (hey ‘pizza face’ Tim Robards, we’re looking at you), but hopefully by your twenties you’re down to the occasional spot following a big night or a burger blowout. To keep your skin clear, make sure you’re using a facial wash that’s formulated to unclog pores and remove excess oil and grime. Use morning and night to keep your face a zit-free zone.

Shave

By now, the bum fluff and peach fuzz of your teens should be well on its way to fully fledged facial hair. Unless you’ve opted to go full mountain man, shaving becomes a necessary evil in your twenties. But before you start hacking off your hair, soften the stubble with a soothing shave gel for a smooth, close shave without irritation.

Protect

It’s never too early to start protecting your skin from signs of ageing. If you want to look as youthful as Leo into your forties, now’s the time to make moisturising part of your daily skincare routine. Choose a facial moisturiser that’s made with natural and organic ingredients, with anti-ageing properties such as vitamin E and cocoa butter for a baby-smooth face. And don’t forget to apply a sunscreen before heading outdoors. Remember, wrinkles on Clooney are cool – on a 33-year-old, not so much.
